Savings Bond Calculator App Reviews

Great App

Works as described. Easy to use.

Savings bond calculator

I tried this and thought it might be the answer to the pc based savings bond calculator and it is not. When I compared the results between the two it lacks the detail and accuracy of the free download to a pc from the treasury. I would not bother with it and just google the treasury version of bond wizard and you will be happier with it

Simple and easy

Does whats intended, I would buy again if I had too.

Waste of money

Still waiting for it to add current months interest.

Waiting...

Need to update rates. Even re-entering the bonds does not calculate with new January rates. Update: Now that its been updated, this is a great app. I dont have to re-enter dozens of bonds to get the new value.

Alight

This app is alright. It does what it is supposed to do. Could use some updates and additional features though (like next interest date, final maturity date)

Savings bond app

Awesome app and makes it easy to stay organized!

Almost there but lacking.

One spends time entering all the information but cant keep a record of the bonds that have been cashed in. Please create an entry for this. It will help with record keeping. The sort option is available but only one sort per session. Try another sort and the app quits!

Great app

Great app. Easy to use. Wish you could enter bonds under two different names. I have 2 kids. Had to put the app on one iPad and then on another iPad for the other kid. Overall a great app.

Great to put all the bonds together

I knew there had to be a place that knew all the rules of bond calculations. Thank you for making it easy to work with.

Buggy

Does not update immediately upon the arrival of a new month. It seems to rely on some human getting around to updating it. In fact, it shows my bonds decreasing in value June 1, an impossibility.

Simple and easy

Finally found an app to track my bonds. Easy and simple to use while tracking all the necessary information.

Good but needs some tweaks

I bought this app to use an an Ipad replacement for the PC program provided by the Treasury Dept. So far it has been very good with a few disappointments which I will explain below. I entered all of my I-bonds and it gave me the same results as the Treasury Dept. Program. Good so far. Whats more is that it correctly handled a new month. I bought this on July 31 and on Aug. 1 the inventory was correctly updated to the new amount (I-Bonds accrue interest every month) The next test will be in November. I-Bonds have their interest rates adjusted each May and November to account for inflation, The app will need to download the new interest rate table from the Treasury Dept. so well see how that goes. Now for the disappointments. 1. Editing needs to be easier. I made a few mistakes entering the inventory and tried to fix them. But the only thing you can edit is the serial number, not the purchase date or amount (I made both mistakes.) You need to delete the bond and re-enter it from scratch. 2. Exporting the inventory requires sending an email to myself. Id like to be able to export the CSV file directly to the Apple Numbers spreadsheet app. In all fairness, this is mentioned in the description in the app store. Still, Id like to see this enhancement. 3. You cannot print the inventory. I print this each month ( with the updated values) for my wife and put it in our filing cabinet along will all our other financial records just in case something happens to me. (She doesnt want to learn the financial programs that I use and prefers a paper summary)Now I need to export the inventory to Numbers (see #2) and print from there. All-in-all this app is a worthy effort and worth the price. But Im hoping for an update that will address these issues. Then I will change my rating to 5 stars.

Very handy...but

Nice clean interface, but needs two features: 1) interest earned on the entire portfolio, not just individual bonds, and 2) a check mark for "cashed" next to each bond so that data for a cashed bond remains, but is grayed out and not included in totals.

Need iOS 7 and iPad Support

Convenient and simple to use. But it crashes when I use the sort function.

Definitely NOT worth your time or money

Disappointed to say the least. Buggy. Basically just a bond inventory tool. No thanks.

Missing a few features

Was looking for an iPad app to track my bonds since I rarely use my laptop anymore and the Treasurys bond tracker. To make the app ideal it needs to also have a box to mark as cashed, if the bond has matured (so I dont have to calculate in my head) and like other users mentioned a total interest calculation. A free version has the other options, except for cashed check box, but the the competitors doesnt have the pass code feature which when dealing with entering bond serial numbers I want security.

Needs a few minor tweaks

Three additions which would help. 1.) A Notes field so you can add info like which person in your family owns the bond 2.) Some way to flag that it was cashed 3.) Something that lists when it will be fully mature. Bonus points for linking to Calendar app to schedule reminder on day it will hit maturity

Cant sort

Entering the bonds is great but if you press the sort button it freezes the whole app

Dont bother

You can get an accurate calculation of your bonds at the US Treasury Website. The Treasury website is accurate easy to use and provides much more information about your bonds than the app. I bought the app before I saw the website - dont make the same mistake. You can do better with the US Treasury Website and not have to endure an endless flurry of useless spam like emails from the app. Bad deal in my opinion to be avoided.
